“Protestants for the Pope” Pray for Pontiff

As a Protestant, I’m not a believer in the whole “Pope as conduit to God” thing that my Catholic buddies like Frank do. Like the Jews, we believe that the true conduit to The Divine is through the Ark of the Covenant (which is why Lucas and Spielberg are such good friends)
I really like the Pope because he stood up to the Soviets as Pope and in his pre-Pontiff days he fought against the Nazis in WWII.
Sounds like a good guy to me, and I’m praying for the Pope to get well soon. His condidtion has apparently stabilized now but there was a point when he was on a feeding tube…
…considering what happened today in Florida it’s good thing the Pope ain’t married.

  1. When feeding tubes are outlawed, only the Pope will have a feeding tube?
Seriously, though, I hope he recovers. He’s got some controversial ideas but, like Scott said, the Pope’s a good man.

  2. My thoughts and prayers are with the Pope. That’s why I can’t seem to get to sleep. I’m not Catholic, but I respected and loved the man. i just used something he wrote to support a thesis in my ethics class.
I know he feels that the way he dies is as much important right now as how he lived.
    Courage and peace holy father.

Jews believe that? I’m Jewish, and I never heard that before.
Having said that, the Pope is a good man, in part — and only in part — because he has recanted the Church’s long history of antisemitism. My prayers are with him as well.

  4. The Pope also has the prayers of this Pagan. He is a holy man, a good man, who though I don’t always agree whit has always had the betterment of the soul of mankind in his heart.

  5. This Prostestant is praying for the Pope, truly a man for the ages. Fought the Nazis’, one third of the triumverate of Reagan, Thatcher & John Paul II that brought an end to the evil empire. A good conservative pope that will now reap the fruits of his life eternal.

  6. What beautiful comments. Catracks & moehawk especially, fer me. Not a Catholic, myself, but somehow I loved this guy. His soul has left our world now, but what he’s accomplished is still here.
I love that his given name was Karol = Carol = Noel = Song of Praise. Life is a song and he played it with feeling.
    He was truly semper fidelis!
