Arr! I Needs Ye Help!

Went to see Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest today on the nice local DLP showing, but, due to poor planning, the lovely and talented SarahK and I arrived a bit late. I don’t think we missed much – we arrived as the arrest warrants were being handed out – but, if someone could fill us in on what we missed in the opening, we’d be much obliged.
BTW, it was certainly a certified, FDA approved summer blockbuster; I felt I got my money’s worth… more so than with Superman which I felt was just missing some of that mindless fun I like in my movies.
Also, since a few people have asked, the next part of Hellbender will come out Monday. This part takes some planning, and, rather than rush it, I decided to leave it until next week.

  1. Wow, you mean you missed the bit with the 400 pound gorilla, the elephant and the banans? I can’t believe it! It’s the best part of the movie! Second only to the part where Michelle Malkin does the striptease, which is also before the warrants part.
(Hmmm, then again you’re better off having missed that.)

  2. You missed Elizabeth kneeling in the rain in her wedding dress, with the wedding decorations in disarray, as troops came ashore.
(I saw it late this afternoon, and some pirate-inspired asshole stole my bicycle while I was eeing the show)

  3. Whatever the sins of Kenny-Boy Lay may have been, he is certainly not the spawn of Satan that some make him to be. Corrupt? Sure. But so is practically every member of Congress. And Congress’s decisions affect far more people than Lay’s discretions could ever have. I know of many people who are more deserving the wrath many aim at Lay. Unfortunately, some who hate Lay support these cretins.
As for war: I think we on the Right are pragmatic about war. We recognize that it is an inherent part of human society. There will always be wars. We cannot afford to sit and hope our enemies will see the errors of their ways. (They might, but perhaps a few centuries after incinerating us.) We learn to choose our wars carefully and fight them with honor and dedication. It’s about protecting us, our families, our homes, our freedoms, our children, and our future.
Pacifism is not a theory to be implemented today. We recognize that no matter how advanced, evolved, enlightened, or peace-loving we in the West may be, people elsewhere are certainly not like us.

  4. Was Kenneth Lay a pirate?
You didn’t miss anything spectacular, but the fact is the movie was ROCK AWESOME and SUPER GROSS, but I hate the cliffhanger ending. I would have been willing to sit another 2 hours if that’s what it took…I guess they gotta get another $7.50 out of me though, those rotten hollywood bastards.
