I have one of those little iPod Shuffle thingies. It’s a small thing I can wear. Fits under a tie nicely. The headphones — I think they call them earbuds — work great for me. And, the music I hear helps me through the day.
What’s on it? Classical music. There are a couple of collections — The World’s Most Relaxing Classical Music Selections, 50 Essential Pieces of Classical Music — as well as all nine of Beethoven’s symphonies. It’s what I want to hear. Sometimes, it’s what I need to hear.
I wonder, though: what do others listen to?
For instance, what’s on Barack Obama’s iPod? Or Joe Biden’s? Or Paul Ryan’s? Or Mitt Romney’s?
I doubt Obama is listening to a playback of his first debate with Romney. Or his second, for that matter. I wonder what music he listens to. I imagine that in late January, he’ll have The Silhouettes’ Get A Job playing. But what about now?

Romney: While he’s got Andy Williams, the Osmonds, etc. on his iPod, he’s also got the Star Spangled Banner, Oh Beautiful and a couple of Lee Greenwood’s tunes.
Biden: Biden doesn’t listen to anything. Does anyone think that he could operate an iPod? If you see him at an event, and he’s got little white wires coming out of his nose, we’ll all know he’s made another futile attempt.

You beat me to it with the Statler Brothers song. That was what first popped into my head, thinking about Obama.
I’m sure that Obama’s has a recording of the Internationale.
Romney ought to have Zevon’s “Boom Boom Mancini” — “Some have the speed and the right combinations; If you can’t take the punches, it don’t mean a thing.” “Boom Boom” Mitt Romney has certainly proven he can take the punches. Obama cannot.
Obama probably has his teleprompter text in audio form in case he loses his train of thought…. Well not really HIS train of thought… The train of thought of whoever tells him what to say. Probably has Bill Ayers’ audiobook on there too and the Communist Manifesto but as he clearly demonstrated, he can’t figure out something as idiot proof as an iphone so an ipod is certainly beyond his grasp.
Given how “angry” Obama tried to appear at the last debate, he had to be listening to some vintage NWA, Public Enemy, and a whole lot of Blowfly.
Romney probably gets his punk rock on with cuts from Trini Lopez or The Cowsills. (Ryan must be sneaking in some Rob Zombie or Judas Priest though, the way Romney’s been through the debates.)
Biden is still trying to figure out how an 8-track works.
Paul Ryan, as he said, runs the gamut from AC/DC to Led Zeppelin with some Chesterfield Kings, Damned and Ramones most likely tucked into the alphabetical rotation, but the repeat function is probably worn out on Ted Nugent’s “Stranglehold” and “Just What The Doctor Ordered”.
@Blarg: I think you’re onto something. Obama wouldn’t be able to sing along without the words scrolling on TOTUS.
