[Lord Of The Rings: How Music Elevates Story] (Viewer #274,393)
Part of me wants to say that I never noticed all this, but on some level I was VERY aware of it. Now that I’m aware of it explicitly, I have to say that theme music doesn’t get much better than this.
The only other examples I can think of that did music so right were Batman (1989) and Star Trek TOS
The most important part of video is audio
Now I know that “leitmotiv” is more than a song by Front 242.

I liked the explanation but I wish he’d let us listen more to what he was talking about and not speak over the examples so much.
The original superman movie, the song captures the mood and character perfectly.
Testify. My brother is a post-production film editor and for a while, he moonlighted doing wedding videos. He always shot the footage with specific music in mind, and edited the films to fit the various musical themes he used. The results were stunning and I found myself watching dozens of videos of the weddings of people I’d never met just because they were such compelling little music-video stories. I even cried during most of them. The right music matched to a video image can really manipulate the emotions.
