Never was a big fan of The Police. The group. I also knew some actual police. Some of them were okay, and some of them were jerks. Just like everybody else everywhere else. Never met any of the band The Police, and I never bought any of their albums. I heard enough on the radio.
Yeah, some of their stuff was okay, but some of it was background noise.

I always wonder if Sting is embarrassed about the lyrics, “Mister Reagan says, “We will protect you” I don’t subscribe to this point of view”
He also seemed to equate Kruschev and Ronnie in that song.
I wonder if he’s embarrassed about that too.
I’d like to ask him.
I doubt he’d think it was funny.
Ah, The Police… Yet another band I listened to only when I was somewhere where I was not allowed to change the radio station.
The first concert I ever attended was the first stop of the Synchronicity tour, and it was the most 80’s event ever (even more 80’s than Live Aid, Hands Across America, or televised lip synch contests.)
Besides the Police, I got to marvel at Simple Minds, the Foxx, A Flock of Seagulls and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.
Just thinking about it makes me nostalgic for some conspicuous consumerism.
The Police were OK, some good songs, lots of crap ones. But, in the end, they were part of the soundtrack to my misbegotten past.
