Old songs are the best. Now, while I like old songs, I never really got into The Andrews Sisters. Nor really sure why. They just never clicked with me. But they sure had a shipload of hits, including this one, which was the first Number One single of 1945, where it spent seven weeks atop the chart.
Technically, it was the second Number One of 1945, as the year began with “Don’t Fence Me In” which the Andrews Sisters and Bing Crosby performed, and which finished 1944 at Number One. So, this song was actually the first new Number One of 1945.

(Composer?) Was that the same Morey Amsterdam from the old Dick Van Dyke show?
That’s the one. There were a couple of lawsuits, as Amsterdam has simply changed the lyrics to a pre-existing song.

Royalties were paid to the original composers, but Amsterdam retained publishing rights in the U.S.
