This artist’s concept shows the trajectory and configuration of NASA’s OSIRIS-REx spacecraft during Matchpoint rehearsal, which is the final time the mission will practice the initial steps of the sample collection sequence before touching down on asteroid Bennu.
It misses the “X” by like a mile. Or a kilometer. Or whatever.
I like the debris field at the end of the trajectory.
Artists used to be better at rendering.
I had no idea Willie Mosconi was not only still alive, but running programs at NASA. You learn something new every day…
Hopefully they’ll knock the asteroid off course so we get SMOD for 2020.
So we have that going for us.
