You’ve got to be kidding me.
It’s a perennially funny bit: having the more detestable side of a comparison get indignant at the comparison. But when it happens for real, it’s about as funny as that Bagdhad Bob skit that turned out to be real. And, for some reason, reminds me of Obama, as well.
Hamas unloads on Ilhan Omar — for comparing terror group to the US
NY Post | June 12, 2021 | Mary Kay LingeRep. Ilhan Omar is taking flak from all sides: now she’s even offended Hamas.
The terror group on Saturday condemned the Minnesota Democrat’s explosive tweet that compared the US and Israel to Hamas and the Taliban — drawing the ire of both Democrats and Republicans this week.
Omar “equated between the victim and the executioner,” Basem Naim of Hamas’ International Relations Office complained in a statement that took issue with her Monday post on Twitter.
“it is unacceptable to make such an unfair comparison, which contradicts with basic norms of justice and international law,” Naim continued in a missive first reported by the Jerusalem Post.
But Naim also took pains to praise Omar, saying that “Hamas highly appreciates” her “support of … the just rights of the Palestinian people.”
Omar on Monday pointed to “unthinkable atrocities committed by the U.S., Hamas, Israel, Afghanistan, and the Taliban” in a tweet that denounced them all equally for “crimes against humanity.”
The comment set off an internal war among Democrats. A dozen Jewish House members blasted Omar on Wednesday, saying that comparing the US and Israel to terror groups was “as offensive as it is misguided.”
Omar hit back in an incendiary Twitter tirade Thursday that accused her fellow Dems of “harassment” and of being “Islamophobic.” Her allies, including fellow members of “The Squad,” leaped to her defense.
She’s perfectly free to make the comparison. . . . but Hamas is more than perfectly dumb to resent being compared to the U.S.
And why does Omar claim that ALL criticism of her is “harassment” and “Islamophobic” — except when Hamas criticizes her?
Last question: is she the one who married her brother?
