Man Buys $2 Rice Dumplings Online, Gets Scammed $6,000
AsiaOne | June 21, 2023 | Melissa Te

With the Dragon Boat Festival just around the corner, rice dumplings, also known as bak zhang, are flying off the shelves.

One man surnamed Lin thought that he got his at a good deal at $2 per dumpling, considering that the average price is around $4 these days.

But instead of him being able to save a few dollars, a whopping $6,000 was wiped out from his bank account overnight, reported Shin Min Daily News.

The 43-year-old man reportedly saw a promotion for the dumplings on Facebook and wanted to order 15 pieces.

When he contacted the seller on June 12, they told him that it was more convenient to deal via WhatsApp.

There, the man was sent a link to place his order.

When he clicked on the link, his phone automatically downloaded an app.

[The seller and I] were talking on WhatsApp throughout the whole process. I followed the other party’s instructions step by step. After downloading the app, I set up an account number and password, and then ordered the meat dumplings,”

He downloaded an app that allowed the scammer direct access to his computer. Every keystroke he made, the scammer was watching it. When the guy created a pass code, the scammer immediately changed it, thereby preventing the guy to access the account he created and giving the scammer access to it.

Same thing almost happened to me last fall and I’m the most skeptical person of these scam emails.

Got an email from what looked like ATT yesterday. Fortunately, I always have trouble logging in to my aTT account so when I called the help line, they verified that the email did not come from them.

These scammers are getting so damn smart and technical, they can provide a link to either your pay pal account or bank account that looks identical to the real thing, but it’s not.

Don’t buy your f’ing dumplings online.

Kevin Costner’s Estranged Wife Requests $248K Monthly For Child Support: Report
Daily Wire | June 22, 2023 | Amanda Harding

Kevin Costner’s estranged wife Christine Baumgartner is seeking $248,000 in monthly child support payments, according to recently filed court documents.

The former handbag designer alleges the figure “is less than the amount needed to maintain the children in their accustomed lifestyle,” per a report from People. Baumgartner also requests that Costner continue paying 100% of private-school tuition, extracurricular activities and sports, plus health-care expenses for their three children. The couple was married for 18 years before filing for divorce on May 2.

They share two sons, Cayden, 16, and Hayes, 14, and daughter Grace, 13.

The documents state that Costner’s 2022 income was $19,517,0641, per the report from People. There was also a breakdown of the family’s expenses totaling $6,645,285, which included travel, entertaining, catering, and upkeep on multiple properties.

This brought their income after expenses and taxes to $7,595,520.

Baumgartner was refusing to leave the former couple’s residence despite a clause in their prenuptial agreement mandating that she do so within 30 days of a divorce filing, The Daily Wire previously reported.

The documents laid out terms for the “Yellowstone” actor to pay $38,000 a month in child support plus provide “100% of certain child related costs, including private school tuition, books, fees and uniforms and school trips, children’s sports, camps and other agreed upon extracurricular activities.”

Costner would also pay $30,000 monthly toward a rental home for Christine and $10,000 toward moving costs. His total estimated net worth is $145 million.

If you bill it, they will come.

Bud Light Is Giving Away $10,000 Each Week To Win Back Drinkers
msn | 6/23/23

Bud Light has, to put it mildly, had a challenging couple of months. Now the company is looking to win back drinkers with a new giveaway worth $10,000 a week.

The prizes are part of a new ad campaign centered around the “Easy to Summer” commercial, a sequel to the “Easy to Drink, Easy to Enjoy” branding that launched during this year’s Super Bowl.

While the company has not yet released details of how the giveaway will work, Bud Light fans will also have the chance to win $100 “towards their tab,” and the beer will be offering more rebates over the July 4th holiday.

Bud Light is even rolling out its first-ever concert tour, the “Bud Light Backyard Tour,” featuring musical artists like Tyler Braden [?] and Seaforth [?]. Free tickets to the tour will also be available through the giveaway.

The campaign is purportedly Bud Light’s biggest ever, with new VP Todd Allen claiming the company has tripled media investments this year (via Variety).
